Fiber Details:

  • Waterlillies is a 12-ply hand-dyed silk offered by The CARON Collection
  • 270 variegated colors
  • It's counterpart in solid colors is Soie Cristale
  • Gives a subtle sheen when stitched and has particularly good light reflection qualities
  • 6 yards per skein
  • Made in USA

 Tips and Tricks:

Waterlilies should be stripped (separate all the strands and put them back together again). Much of the beauty of silk comes from the reflection of light off its surface, so smooth stitches are important. To help keep the strands perfectly flat and smooth, the use of a laying tool is recommended.

The CARON Collection includes eight different thread lines, some with well over 200 different color combinations. The hand dyed variegated threads come in two different weights of cotton (Watercolours® and Wildflowers®); and in Waterlilies® , a 12 ply silk, and Impressions®, a 50% wool, 50% silk. The colors coordinate across all four lines.

Recommended Use:

18 mesh use four strands. Add an additional strand for long straight stitches

13 mesh use six strands.  Add and additional strand for long straight stitches

Congress Cloth use two strands.
