Tips and Tricks:

These fibers are hand-painted and permanent. They are dyed in small amounts so each batch will vary in distribution of color and in intensity. While this adds character to the fiber, it is advisable to purchase enough thread for a large project at one time.

Separate the plies before using.  Use one or two strands in your needle depending on the mesh of your canvas and what you are stitching.  Use a laying tool if stitching with more than one strand.

The CARON Collection includes eight different thread lines, some with well over 200 different color combinations. The hand dyed variegated threads come in two different weights of cotton (Watercolours® and Wildflowers®); and in Waterlilies® , a 12 ply silk, and Impressions®, a 50% wool, 50% silk. The colors coordinate across all four lines.

Impressions, also comes in over 200 solid colors. Each range has from three to seven shades so just the right color is always available for the project at hand. Soie Cristale, solid colors in the identical silk as Waterlilies, comes in the same colors as Impressions.

Recommended Use:

18 mesh use one strand.  More challenging to use on 18 mesh, but worth the effort to create dramatic shadows and 3-dimensional effects. 

13 mesh use two strands.  Stitches nicely on 13 mesh
